• Therapy with Alex
Therapy with Alex Taking the first steps in acknowledging that you need support doesn’t make you weak, in fact it is quite the opposite. Considering the demanding world we live in today I believe that therapy is becoming a necessity
  • Fear of the Unknown
Fear of the Unknown Through undertaking therapy we can stretch our capacity to tolerate the moment to moment uncertainties of life. Over time you may come to embrace the ebbs and flows of life, and gain an acceptance of ‘what is’.
  • Know thyself
Know thyself Socrates (C. 469 BC-399 BC) one of the world’s most celebrated philosophers knew the priceless value of self knowledge. In our generation self knowledge gained in therapy is yet again becoming the King of currency.

About me

I have had a wide and varied life experience base prior to becoming a Psychotherapist spanning two continents, Africa and the U.K. including formerly working at ground & management level on-shore and off-shore in the fields of construction & engineering industries. Creatively I have written, recorded and performed my own original music as a solo artist (included on my website under the header music lounge), academically, I have recently had a research article of mine published in the European Journal for Qualitative research in Psychotherapy whilst having plans for more research in the offing. In my sporting life I have participated as a former amateur boxer and kick-boxer before injury and surgical intervention curtailed my progress. I have also delivered community sports programmes informed primarily by qualifying as a CSLA instructor underpinned by experience gained as an assistant boxing coaching working with local boxers in both the amateur and professional code.

I have a particularly keen eye for continued Professional & Personal Development. After Qualification and subsequent accreditation, I have completed self funded further training in EMDR, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, Biosynthesis, Effective Intervention With Violent Behaviour, Couples Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Imago Therapy and Meditation Training. I have also been accepted for a place on the European Diploma in Supervision course in 2014 as well as recent notification of being accepted for the 2015 EAP Integrative Association Child Psychotherapy Diploma Training.

In terms of Personal Development, we Psychotherapist practitioners registered with the UK Council of Psychotherapists believe that self knowledge is paramount in enabling us to be at the cutting edge of therapeutic practice. In short the more we know about ourselves, the more effective we can be in assisting you the client. I have been, and continue to benefit from being in regular personal therapy with an excellent therapist post Qualifying, which is over and above my Governing bodies stipulations and I believe a good indicator of both my Integrity and passion as a Psychotherapist.
